Hello
I have been sitting on my triton test results ever since I got them about a month ago not really knowing which action to take or what really needed to be corrected. I had posted on reef2reef before in regards to my lack of luck getting corals to thrive so I figured I'd get some good help from a triton water analysis. Even though triton gives you suggestions on what actions to take, I still fill a little lost. I have posted my water analysis below and I was hoping to get some feedback from some of my fellow reefers. I've only had easy to keep corals like zoas, favia, euphyllias, monti caps, birdsnest, some leather corals and some encrusting leptos and cyphestrias. I do have a small frag of pink goniopora that I've had for maybe close to a year that has not grown. None of these corals really took off in my system or thrived, some have lasted in my tank and are there currently in my system but not much growth or encrusting of any kind, with the exception of some no name palys, toadstool, kenya tree and mushrooms. I do have reef energy, Red Sea colors a,b,c,d but I am not using these products at the moment. I also feed my colas but not consistently because they are mainly small frags. I sometimes feed oyster feast, reef roids and goniopower. My lighting system is 3 radion gen pro 4 xr 15 running on sps ab plus schedule. I run a bubble magus curve 7 and brs media reactor with BRS high capacity GFO which I just recently started using because of a mild hair algae outbreak, I was running BRS Rox 8 carbon but now I use it when needed. For Nitrate control I am using nopox on a jaebo doser @ 6 ml a day dosed @ 6 am. My system is about a year and a half old. I do have a lot of fish in my opinion. Mallenarus wrasse, flame hawk, 6 chromis,2 clowns, small yellow tang, fire fish, 2 bangaii cardinals and a small cuc.
I also wanted to know if my system is considered a "ultra low or low nutrient system" and if so, should I be dosing anything additional. My tank is 75 gallons with an 18 gallon sump.
Parameters based off of my own test kits are:
no3 1 salifert
salinity 1.026 aquaforest refractometer
ph 7.8ish api
p04 0.02 hanna low range phosphorus checker
alk 9.8 Red Sea
thank you for your help and for taking the time to read this post.
Happy 4th!!! :)

Do you have any heavy metals in your tank? I believe there is another section in the triton test that wasn't posted. Only thing I can see is your ph is a little low.

I forgot about this one. It doesn't look like there are any metals in my system.

I have the same tank except I only have 2 radions installed on it, theres a cpl of things I might be wrong but when you send the triton sample you have to tell them the total water volume not just the display unless the 75 is deducting the rockwork and sand I might be wrong. Another important factor to consider is flow what are you using and what is the placement of these pumps? And at what intensity are you running the radions because with 2 of them running the coralab template and at 40% I'm getting 120 par at the bottom of the tank. So theres a lot of factors to consider.

makes sense. I am using two gyres and I have them mounted at the very top at random mode. nothing in the tank looks to be getting blasted. I have my radions at 25% intensity and they run from 10-9 pm. what do you have yours set to?

Id suspect molybdenum its pretty high.

What type of Salt are you using? I have similar issue in my tank (slow growth). I also have low Iodine. Randy Holmes -Farley commented on my thread that he didn't think Iodine was useful to dose. I'm trying the Marin Pro Salt. I used to use Reef Crystals. I understand your frustration. You feel like you are doing everything right and stuff just doesn't grow.

hello
I'm using aquaforest reef salt. I was originally using Red Sea coral pro. I did see threads on here where Randy Holmes states iodine is not an issue and at my local LFS "world wide corals" one of the main guys there told me the same, so I'm sold on that theory. But you're right I do feel as I'm doing everything I can and it does get a bit frustrating but it's part of the hobby and I feel as it keeps me on my toes and it keeps me searching for answers and researching more and more. Someone mentioned molybdenum might be another issue. It's showing to be high in my water analysis.

There are lots of toxicity scientific articles out there about clams, algae and some fish. But nothing about coral. It could be toxic considering its 10x more.

Gotcha
Makes sense. Any ideas on how to remove it??
I've been doing the water changes they've asked me to. Any ideas what could be setting these levels high??

Its hard to say without testing your food, salt mix and top up water. Id likely blame the salt mix. Reef crystals?

Food is LRS
aquaforest reef salt
I use a 5 stage BRS ro/di unit with TDS meter reading 0 for water changes and top off :-/

Triton recommends Tropic Marin Pro Salt. Did you find the suggestions link in on the Triton website? The usually have suggested corrective actions.

Hello
Yes I did see their suggestions . They did recommended that salt. I'm actually compose to be done with my current salt, aquaforest. Not sure if that's a good salt to go with. Have you ever used it??
