Been having coral and fish death in my tank. All LFS tested water. They say my water may be too clean because the parameters are perfect. Anyway they all come back to my water source and heavy metals here are my results, everything was green except:

Cu-in the yellow at 2.8.
Fe-in the red at 7.34.
Si- in the yellow at 307.60.
As a side note my PO4 measured- 0.021

So what to do now? Change out RO/DI cartridges and add the new KDF-85 that removes heavy metals?

Randy where are you? lol.

Oh So I went back to Unique. I am on my third and last day of running Triton Detox. I ordered a new RO/DI machine from Air water Ice. I was told that I could probably benefit from Silica Buster cartridge as well. Are these parameters bad enough to kill fish and corals?

Thanks

Too clean of water never kills fish.

Silicate is not something to be feared unless you have a diatom problem. I frequently dose my tank to about 2/3 of the level you have.

Are you dosing iron somehow? It generally shouldn't be detectable unless you are adding a lot of it.

Not with intent. I have only used Red Sea products in the tank from the onset. To include, Red Sea Reef Energy, Red Sea Coral Coral Coloration only twice. I just noticed though that it contains Fe. Great observation. But like I said, only two times in seven months and a very small amount. I was using Red Sea Coral Pro salt mix and I am switching slowly back to Tropic Marin Regular salt mix.

I have lost Scolys, Chalices, Favias and Acans. The only types of corals surviving are Zoos, Palys, Duncans, Torch.

That may be where the iron comes from.

FWIW, Red Sea recommends a ridiculously high iron level (about 25,000 times the normal surface seawater concentration, and well above what you have), so their Coral Colors seems a likely significant source.
