Hi all, struggling to understand trochus snail requirements to keep it striving.

Please see below link with details. Sorry to post again but never got any response on the below thread. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Trochus snails can be hit or miss, meaning they sometimes survive and thrive while other times they do not. It really depends on were they are harvested. I have found that, if they actually breed in your tank, they survive far greater than when they are wild caught. It really comes down to temp of the tank and parameters for the wild caught vs tank parameters. I bought 10 trochus snails, roughly 1.5 years ago, and since I have lost all of them, but they bred and they are all climbing throughout my tank.

I do believe BRS said the same thing as far as the temp they were harvested at as per your tank parameters.

My temp is 24-25°C ~ 78°F, any idea what the ideal temp is for them?

Temp 77-79, salinity 1.023-1.026 and ph of 8.0-8.3
Each tank will be different to how they thrive

Lol hey from both threads. Your temp is good 78-80 degrees Fahrenheit. Your salinity should stay slightly elevated. Barely elevated. They grew all over the place. Trying to make coral happy makes the same results. But they like to come out at night mostly and hide in the corners.

Truthfully, their is no ideal temp except what they are originally harvested from, whatever that is. I got a batch from a vendor who no longer exist, but they bred and now I have them all over my tank. Reefcleaners has a great following, and I plan on going with them on my upgrade.

I'll def add another one then and hope they breed. Ill need to increase CUC in general but I'm waiting for tank to establish more and for them to have tank generated food.
