I agree

I wish the Kh was a little higher

I know I could use classic and I have
It just seems the Pro Mixes cleaner and the aquariums respond better

They don’t ship:(

850 gallon reef IO from chewy.com $11.00 per 50 gallons. Basically free salt. Don't get caught up in the hype. So many beautiful reefs running on this since the early 90's. I had the pleasure of visiting the processing plant way back when. Every bag mixes the same. IMOHO. :)

I was buying the small boxes for my 20gal nano and mixing the whole box at once in a brute. I do a maybe 4 gal water change weekly and had to get a 200gal bucket cause its all I could find locally. Got a years supply now. last time I was at Top Shelf about a month ago they had tons of it in every size. Its out there just have to look around.

Evening all,

Salt is a choice, no one is going to have the correct answer. If IO was not good it would not have been used by so many for so long. Salt is just part of the equation, along with dosing and other additives.

People find what works and stick with it. I have used IO since mid 80’s. My current 2 tanks -TMP on the 180 and ESV on the 60. The down side of TMP is every so often you need to dispose of the buckets or the wife can count the thousands spent on salt.

As for the current shortage of TMP, I heard it is being shorted like GameStop to drive the price. We need to focus more on Tesla and TMP will come available.

I’m tired of the stress of not being able to get this salt and am ready to change brands. Looking for recommendations from those who have had success changing. What did you change to and how was the transition?
Just bought hw marinemix reefer and couldn't be happier, the price and the fact that its always available won me over. Plus it has my tanks Dkh of 8.5.

Who pays $63 for a bucket of RC? I typically pay less than $40. This chart is a bit misleading.

I paid $48 for the bucket of IO RC on amazon with free shipping. Was in the local Petco a couple weeks ago and saw the exact same bucket on the shelf with a price tag of about $95!!

I have been a little concerned about the IO salt because of the elevated chemistry, but after reading through this thread I believe I will stick with it. I don't know about mixing in large batches, but I did a test run a couple weeks ago in a 5 gallon bucket and it mixed crystal clear in under 30 mins with water temp at 65* and a powerhead doing the mixing.

They will match online price at petco. Petsmart usually has it on sale for online prices. Chewy is also a great to buy.

That is good t know if I ever find myself in need of salt immediately for some reason. Personally I like Amazon cause I can make a few mouse clicks and a couple days later the salt is on my doorstep.

Has anyone used LiveAquaria salt?

The parameters are similar to TM Pro, and hoping it will mix clean

You would think a thread 6 pages long
Might catch the attention of TM staff and get some sorta response

Saying the same thing yet still no supply

comforting

Even better, Petco is offering 25% off instore pickup. Order it on their website at the lower price and get it for 34 or so bucks before tax!
