Does Tropic Marin Pro Reef Salt that comes in a bucket need to be rolled around like some other salts to get the salt mixed up because of some of the components settling in the bottom of the bucket or box?

Every salt that ships to anywhere need to be mixed , it settles in transit. I would say mix every salt every time regardless , for best practices. That stuff is $$$ to not go the extra step.

Just buy one of these

BRS did a video on salt mixes. They found the TM was pretty uniform throughout so no real need to mix the salt. But like @NanoDJS suggested it wouldn’t hurt to do it. I use TM and roll it around a bit but i don’t worry about it too much. Plus the bag inside the bucket keeps the salt pretty well contained so not sure how much agitation you really get.

My opinion on the subject is I'm concerned with the major elements, sodium chloride, magnesium, calcium, carbonates.

If the trace elements trickle out of the mix at the bottom.... I got it covered by daily dosing Brightwells REPLENISH

That way I KNOW the trace elements are in play daily

Heres like a 500day supply for my 220 total water volume as I dose 4ml per day (2 liter = 2000ml ÷ 4ml per day = 500 days)

Thank you everyone. I know some salt mixes you can mix for a few hours and do water change and some others you have to wait 24 hrs. For this salt mix how long do you guys let it mix for before doing the water change?

I have a small pump in my mixing container. Once the salinity is right, I let it run 30-60 min and then make a final test. But that’s more to make sure everything is well mixed etc. I haven’t seen anything that requires you wait a specific period of time for TM. I’ve heard that’s the case for other salts but can’t speak to that.

Something that I do is transfer the salt from bag to a new container and this helps to mix a little, but really I don't do that for mix, is just to put a better container

Well by the condition of the box when I get it delivered from UPS my TM from BRS... It has seen more then shaking if you know what I mean.... Looks like it was in a war... and almost lost... :).... No Need for Mixing

Nothing in the bucket, box or bag is going to sift or separate during transport. If it was poorly mixed at the factory it will arrive poorly mixed and vice versa.
