Tropic Marin Pro-Tect: useful or snake oil ?

Hello, i tried to find some reviews on this product. It claims to « improve water quality by including highly effective active compounds » especially « increasing efficiency of protein skimmer and protecting fishes from stress ».
Tropic Marin is a well known brand for serious products. I am tempted to believe these claims…
Is it really worth it or do you believe it is just snake oil?

Water changes are great ways to achieve "some" of these results as well! And using Pro-Tect does not mean that you can or should avoid doing water changes all together. But saying that a product is "snake oil" implies that you have specific knowledge of the product and how it works. I would be interested in what your knowledge of this product is and how you acquired it? And please explain to me why you give it the designation of "sake oil"?
