I’m using this, I’ve had no problems with it at all, it’s a little cloudy when first mixed which is the probiotics but it soon clears.

I’m wanting to upgrade my salt from instant ocean to a good one and stick with it did you like the salt or even get it or find any more reviews on it? It sounds awsome by the way tropic Marin explains it I want to do their carbon dosing method and this seems a good way to do it

110$ more then the same size box of IO. No thanks.

I can buy nearly 1000G of IO for the cost of one 200G bucket of that stuff.

Though I've been out of the hobby for a few years and just now getting back into it I worked at a public aquarium/zoo and have kept SW tanks for years. We only used two salts at the Zoo; Instant Ocean and Tropic Marin, both are excellent salt mixes. Not sure why that one is so expensive, if you want to use TM salt I'd just get the classic, it's excellent. So that salt contains a carbon source and probiotics, it’s basically carbon dosing with your salt mix. If you are running low nutrients already I’d be very careful using that.

I did not get it as a Tropic Marin user because I understand it was focused more on bacteria than nutrients and I therefore use the Actif as my tank is mixed reef and somewhat low on nutrients

I heard by lou ekus himself that you couldent over do a even brand new aquarium by his type of carbon dosing using reef active couldent over dose ? But I have super low nitrates already and unknown p04

reef actif is in the salt that’s basically the same as using this salt or the bio if you are dosing actif I just don’t understand the probiotics part

Do you think there is no way this salt could improve your reef tank in any way vs IO ?

Could it improve my corals, highly doubtful.

To me, and all the years I've been in the hobby, salt is salt. Only thing that makes them different is the what they mix up to, and whether they have organics in them(like this bio-actif).

Ever wonder why IO has been around for decades, and nearly every large public aquarium uses it? Yes price has something to do with it, but if it really made that much of a difference, then those same aquariums wouldn't mind paying the little bit extra if it meant their livestock was healthier because of the salt.
