I switched salt and some of my coral did not like it. I noticed that my Alk jumped from stable at 7.8 to around 9.5. Be aware of this new salt if anyone switches to it.

That’s strange cause I always heard good things about tropic Marin, I know their other salt has a really low alkalinity

I bought a HUGE bucket of this to fill my new tank (pending it ever arrives). I just used it last week to do a water change in my 90 gallon. My alk is still stable and my corals perked up! I would actually be happy if this raised alk a bit. Then I would not have to dose as much.

Yea I heard that’s the only downside to tropic Marin, but I’ve only used Red Sea. I’m definitely switching though, I heard tropic Marin mixes cleaner and doesn’t leave residue

It mixed very clean. I have been using Two Little Fishies, which I like very well.
I threw away half a blue box of Fritz because it left so much blech in my mixing containers and sump.

Indeed. However, I wish I would have noticed that the Pro maintains 7-8 and the Syn-Biotic targets 9. Some of my coral did brown out. However, this is mostly my fault since I do not test like I should these days. I used to test weekly now every 1-2 months. When I noticed my coral were browning I tested and noticed my Alk was out of whack and normally it would be lower and I have to increase so I went researching....

TM makes it pretty clear that this salt targets 8 - 9 dkh...I use it, love it.

Could have went to their website and seen that is states this salt has alk at 8-9 while pro is 7. I use pro and have no problems and if I switched there are salts out ther that have the same parameters.. can’t blame the salt for this

Yes. I switched to Pro originally and there is not residue. I read about the bacteria in the new Syn-Biotic so I tried it out.

Correct. I did not thought. Should have googled it.

High kh does not brown out coral and 9 is not high ,high kh give better growth, color and higher ph,check the brs experiments
