I just got a bucket of trooic marin classic to try out as my old salt was not coming out how i wanted ...I am wondering how ling do you guys usually mix the salt for (@15-20gal) ?i used to leave over night sometime and do change in morning but dont want to have precipitation going on if it mixes quicker. ..please let me know what you have done or do if you use this salt

My salt stays mixing for days lol. But I use the Bi0-actif. Never had precipitation in a 6 hour mix or more.

Thanks for the reply thats good to know i would think and hope thst most tropic marins are the same in that sense ....how long does usually take to mix clear if you recall?

I just switched from Tropic Marin Bio Actif, but I would mix overnight and even though the water in the container looked clear when I added it to the tank it would make it a bit cloudy for a couple hours. No experience with the classic though.

Have anyone tried pro reef version, im thinking about switching salts currently use salinity

I have been using the pro for years. It's a great salt, alkalinity is on the low side but it all depends what you keep the tank at. You might need to add some buffer

Thanks I keep my all at 8.5 that will work just fine

What are the differences between the three types of Tropic Marin Salt?
Values are approximate guidelines and are meant to reflect values measured at a salinity of 35 PSU which is equal to a specific gravity of 1.0264.

Classic: Ca: 370-390 ppm, Mg: 1250-1300 ppm, Alk: 9-10 dKH
Pro-REEF: Ca: 430-450 ppm, Mg: 1300-1350 ppm, Alk: 7-8 dKH
Bio-ACTIF: Ca: 430-450 ppm, Mg: 1300-1350 ppm, Alk: 8-9 dKH, plus carbon dosing compounds.

Couple hours :) If I leave it in the mixing tank too long it definitely gets a bacteria build up in the container. That would be the carbon source providing food for something in there :)
