Ok, kinda lost here.....

I got tropical advanced ca and mag, and instructions are.... Idiotic, to be honest.

For a calcium, not a single word about dosing.

55g disolved in 1l of rodi water.... That's it..whole page of instructions how much grams you need to dissolve in 2,3,4,5l of water, gazzilion words of calcium importance, but not a single letter - how much of that solution will raise how much..... :)

Totaly idiotic.

For mag, 660g for 1l, and 10ml such solution raise mag by 10ppt/100l. Nice. Exact. Clean.

But calcium????

Has anyone figure out what is potency of ca solution?

Ok, there is chart in "easy calcium" which i assume is just premixed liquid, and it say that 10ml of solution raise 20ppm/100l.

I hope someone using this products, and have some info......

If you cannot find an answer in their literature just perform some basic tests with whatever concentration they tell you to make.
Premix 100l of seawater or use your tank water. Measure the calcium level. (2-3x to be certain)

Mix
55g calcium powder in 1L stock solution

Add 10ml if this solution to 100ml seawater and mix for a minute or 2.

Take another 2 to 3 calcium tests and average them out.

The difference between the two values is your answer.

So, lets say i measure ca in tank. Then take 500ml of that same tank water. Add 50ml solution and mix, then measure ca again.

Probably the value will be higher.

Lets say, 20ppt higher.

So, if i multiply 50ml x 100, for 500l tank, i need to dose 5 liters to raise ca for 20ppt?

Ignore values, but math is ok?


Or call me idiot, and please explain how to calculate? :)

You can simply take a small sample from your tank to test the calcium like normal.


Example: 350ppm

Add 25 ML of your unknown strength solution you made.
Wait until the tank turns over atleast 1x before testing calcium again.

Example: raises tank calcium by 10ppm
For a total of 360ppm

(pending you know the approximate water volume your answer is simply, 25ml solution raises *your tanks water volume* by 10ppm)

Example: If you wanted to target 400ppm you would need 125ml of this solution dosed to the tank.

You should do this to get the concentration of your solution and then do a 5 day consumption trend so you know how much your tank is consuming daily for a stable dosing regemine.
