If someone have idea.....

I use tropical advanced calcium, mixed in 2l bottle, per instructions. And all is good.

But, in jar that is connected to my doser, i notice that at bottom is some reddish brownish sediment.

Jar is tightly closed, sitting beside jars with calcium, alk, in wich i didnt see such sediment so i rule out some contamination from air or something.

Really not sure what is happening, like i said - 2l bottle in wich i mix solution - no sediment at all. But when i pour from that bottle into jar connected to dosing pump - after 2-3 days there is sediment.

Is it possible that that is some contamination from dosing pump?

Other than that, only difference is that bottle is stored in dark place and dosing jar is under the tank, so there is some ambient light, light from refugium, daylight.....

Can light be cause?

Thanx!

Thank you.

So, should i leave that residue or maybe i can shake or mix jar daily?

I’d advise not dosing the unknown solids.

Ok, now i'm confused even more.

Like i said, in mixing-storing bottle, there is no residue. Only in dosing jar.

My guess, because this is only difference, that light has something to do with sediment.....

Seems almost impossible that no one uses tropical calcium.... But i guess i'll check with manufacturer, to see is there any explanation for residue.

Thanx!

Iron may only precipitate when mixed with sufficient O2 to form ferric iron. I don’t know if that’s it, but it seems likely to me if nothing is rusting in your dosing container.

Container is food grade, so i guess its safe to use, and plastic itself cannot cause any changes in liquid that is in there.

Really dont know, but i will do little experiment. Since only difference is storing conditions - dark closed cabinet vs open tank stand, and absence/presence of light, i will mix one 2l bottle, same as always, and store it in same dark cabinet.

Also i'll mix some solution in dosing container, but i will put some cardboard around it, so that no light can enter inside. If there is no residue after few days, it can be solid clue that what ever is happening it have something with light. If same residue appears even in dark, next step is to change container.

If nothing helps, i'll simply change from tropical calcium to anything else :)
