I started using the Red Sea mature kit a month ago, hoping it would cycle my tank in 21 days. About a week in, I came to find out you are supposed to use live rock and I was using dry rock. Others said this was fine it would just take a little longer. So over the last month, I haven’t detected any ammonia, but my nitrites have been steady at 1 since day 10, my nitrates have been going up since as well. They are at 100. At this point I ran out of the stuff in a kit a week ago, and I’m not sure what to do. I may just dose prime, add some bio spira, and add a fish or CUC. Any thoughts? Any bacteria is probably dead right? I don’t see my nirtrites/trates lowering any time soon.havent seen any algae or life either.

Anyone?

your cycle is complete and you can start reefing. I know this will be hotly debated though it is fact lol searching for a thread with all the answers about why testers arent lining up brb

this explains 100% of your testing issues, you dont have a cycle issue.

the most important takeaway for you, no matter how many analytical pages this thread becomes or doesnt become, is that if you change out your water and add animals they will live. the start date is here, now, right this second its ready. change water for reasons linked and just go you dont have to remeasure like he's doing above.
