hi R2R, I'm having issues cycling my 150 gallon tank and need help. I have live rock in and have been ghost feeding for six days. My issue is that when I test my levels all of then are high at the same time. I'm new to saltwater, had freshwater for awhile. Has anyone encountered this issue before? Any recommendations? Please help!

Stop feeding and let tank sit for one month and you'll be ready. The food needs time to break down and six days straight hasn't gave the first day food a chance to do its job. So now its waiting time. Dont u just love feeding!!

The reason for all being high at the same time is the live rock. It came with bacteria still living on it. That will have enough on it to cycle the tank itself so stop feeding it and wait.

Yeah, like mentioned earlier, I would stop feeding the tank. It's like if you had a huge trash pile. The garbage men can't take away the trash you already have if you keep adding to it daily. Eventually, you will have a large amount of garbage men (Bacteria Colony) that can take away all the garbage. Just leave what ya got, and let nature do it's job. Also, you don't have to have the bottles of bacteria. I don't see them hurting or helping the tank at this point because the colony can only grow to it's food source. You can't feed a village off of one rabbit, right? Just let it sit and eventually you'll see drops in ammonia and nitrites. Then a boost in nitrates! Good luck, bud!

In reefing a decent part of our job is waiting. Wait for cycling, wait for corals to grow, wait for shipments to come in. Welcome to the reef life. Enjoy your tank and post a pic for us.

Well said! Like the old saying goes "Nothing good in a reef tank happens fast."
