Trouble with JF Homewrecker

I think you’re lighting is the issue. For starters you’re spot lighting/led burning the HW with the light being so close to the water. If you can’t upgrade your lighting soon, I think you should raise the lights to 12” above the water and increase your photoperiod to 14 hours. 1 hour ramps and 12 hour peak. The new height will reduce the par a little but the new photoperiod will make up for that and will provide a better quality of light.
If you’re using gfo or any other phosphate absorbing media stop that too. Acro frags do much better with po4 in 0.08-0.20 range in my experience.

Do you know what par it’s at? I doubt 2 primes can deliver enough par to keep tenuis alive longer than a month. I have 2-52 HD’s 16” over my 50 gallon cube at 108 watts each delivering 450-600 par to my HW’s.
I do not know what my par is. Its hanging in there for now.

I will give it a shot, I was planning to upgrade to a 180 with radions in a year or two. With my prized frag not doing well I just might get one of my radion xr30 a little earlier then I was planning on. I was using this tank as a grow out so I can transfer the sps colonies when my upgraded tank becomes established.

Pull that phosguard out ASAP. I added that once and 5 tenuis rtn’d within 24 hours. You don’t need any po4 absorbing media. Throw it away and you’ll thank me in a month when you’re HW is green showing off giant polyps. Good luck

If you want more par I would max out uv,v,ry,b
G to 25 and r 10-50 and play around with the w until you find something that your eye likes. I wouldn’t go over 30 on the white though. Make sure your fixtures are at least 12” above the water and then set an appropriate acclimation % for 3-4 weeks. I’m in an acclimation phase myself to raise my greens and red settings. More red really makes my acros pop.

Are you sure you’re not ridding the world of GFO, bud? [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

Here’s a tiny HW nub I picked up at a local store. It is the nicest HW I’ve ever seen in person and the owners tries to get his po4 up to 0.15-0.20 so he blast them with light for the best color and growth.

Looks better than mine [emoji87] I’m barely barely pulling some pinks[emoji24]

Maybe a combination of things. He does run on T5’s and a few RB strips. His parameters may be a bit different too. Here’s a video of Reef Builders visiting his farm. Very Informative. I have quite a few of his corals.

Good luck!

It’s awesome. He blast them at 7-800 par with 400 watt radiums and radions
Just an update, I adjusted the lights to about 10 inches off the surface and added white light to the spectrum to increase the par and I'm getting really good polyp extension. Still no color, but I ordered the aquatic life t5 hybrid fixture with the blue plus bulbs. Hopefully that helps.

Also, can anyone else vouch for phosguard and tenuis being a dangerous combination?
