True External ATS?

Been scouring threads but haven't found an answer yet to this question:

Is there such a thing as a truly external scrubber? Meaning one that could be sitting in a dry area of your stand and be at least unlikely to leak (obviously it's always possible).

I've been reading threads and people seem to have always some issue with splash and salt creep and whatnot for any of the brands.

They call them algae reactors if they are an external canister setup. I was thinking about one but the sales person told me that for the money I would be better off with a refugium
