Ive had the green bubble tip and had no luck. Traded it back in. So, im thinking about trying either the rbta or a riterri anemone. Which do you think id have the most success with?

Or should i go for something else?

Well I have a RBTA that my percs love to death. But, that being said, I know of people who have percs that wont go near a BTA. Clown and nem pairings are hit and miss at best. Right now, I debating a Haddoni carpet. Percs will sometimes host them too.

I have a mated pair of black flase perculas and a true percula they all share and some time squabble over my RBT and my green Sebae. The true percula perfers the Sebae a little more. That being said when it squabbles with the flase pers the false pers will each go into one and the true perc being left out will host my torch coral.

I think i will try the RBTA instead of riterri. I need more color in my tank and it looks like it will help alot. I did have the gbta but didnt like it too much, hopefully the red one is better.

+ Red is my favorite color so that is a bonus.

Will the RBTA try to harm any fish or shrimps?

I looked it up on liveaquaria and i see two of them. one is 25 and one is 100. (not too impressed with the pink one, purple is ok though)

Which one is a better fit for percs?

If you were in my position and desperately trying to get 1 anemone for clowns, you would try the sabae instead? If price didn't matter.
I want one that wont kill or harm one of my carpenter wrasse one night.
Im also looking up what people have in reef tanks, fragging looks boring lol but im interested in clams and mushrooms.
So thats why im targeting one anemone, because they can sting.

i personally like the $25 i like the white tentacles with the purple tips. but the mini maxis have tons of diff colors and ive seen clowns in them at the LFS

I've always read that mini maxis are not hosting anemones and are inclined to be more predatory than other nems?

Neither my RBT or Sebae really bother anything. Although my Sebae can get over 12" in diameter and brushes against some corals and they do not like it. So I have to move the corals out of the way. And the RBT moved up the live rock to get closer to the lights and just happed the rest on a portion of monti spongodies and the portion near has washed out look and the polyps do not come out as much as the other part further away.

Did your BTA wonder? That can cause head aches with your
aquascaping. If they wonder alot they are not happy either.

When i had my gbta it planted into ny rock the night i put him in and stayed there, it NEVER moved. I even targeted the powerhead at it to get it out. But it stayed put. I had to trade in the rock with him, no one could safely get it out.

Maxi-Minis WILL EAT CLOWNS! Don't do it! I have two in my reef and the only thing that gets near them are the sexy shrimp that naturally host in them. As far as picking one anemone above all others, I'd go RBTA. Easy to keep as long as you follow the basics, never lost a fish to one either. In fact my tangs will sometimes pick shrimp from the anemone during feeding.

It's to hard to say clowns are stubborn man my female host a PVC pipe and the male host a scolly lol... I'm not ready to introduce them to the nem I will soon thou every one is getting enough now...1smile1 btw my male snocasso watches me feed the scolly that's how he got there lol

My perc hosts the sandbed on the right corner of my tank. Sleeps there every night and keeps swimming to it. I will try the rbta, even if they dont host it.. I do like the look of it.

I have had good success with my rbta and clowns never got my clowns to host my haddoni

maxi are a bad choice for a host for any clown. they will eat a clown or any fish.
any nem will eat a fish that gets caught in their tentacles. if you want it to host, toss the nem and clowns in a basket till they go in the nem and when you put both in they will go back to hosting it. also surround the foot of a bta with rubble rock and it should stay put. i had roses that moved and never stayed put, then i had others that never moved. all depends on that nem.

My rbta and clowns were both purchased same day and within three days the clowns were hosting however, the very same two paired clowns were in with another rbta at the lfs for several weeks and they could have cared less that it was there. I honestly don't think there is any for sure way but what Ericm1205 suggested certainly couldn't hurt! Good luck :)

i bougfht a baby (8month old) tank raised true perc home! it took 4 months for his to host frogspawn! and it was when i scared him from cleaning the glass!
