Hi guys,
Currently I'm redoing my plumbing and I have very little space in between the bulkhead and the top of the sump which is a Trigger Systems and I would like to incorporate a gate valve which should be easy to remove for easy cleaning (if needed).

Has anyone seen a gate valve with a union already attached? I've found some knife type of gate valves with a union, but I need to be able to adjust the flow as needed so a on/off gate valve will not work.

My second option is to make a new stand and replace my standard 4ft stand and raise it about 4" which will allow for a gate valve and union (adds 3").
The tank is a standard 75gal with a standard 4ft stand with a Trigger Systems Ruby 36 sump.

Thanks,

You sure you need the precision of a gate valve there? I've always used ball valves on my overflow/return plumbing.

Did not find one in my own search. Ended up using a couple unions.

Not that I found. I used a couple of the below ball valves in a similar configuration and I've used threaded gates valves with threaded fittings where I absolutely needed/wanted a gate valve.

The quality on these is high so you may be able to get away with them.

If you absolutely need a gate valve and the reason you want a union is to clean it, what about a "Spears" style Gate Valve? While they don't have a union, they do have a completely removable valve assembly which can be pulled out and cleaned. You shouldn't need the union functionality as long as you can pull the valve out.

Well I did come up with a fix (sort of)...
Use a slip on gate valve and a slip on union which will give me the min space amount. about 1.5 of an inch or something around there, so it snot too bad.
Second choice is to skip the glue in between, just jammed in (just not 100% bullet proof... what if)

jservedio - I have a pears threaded gate valve at the moment and was not able to disassemble it under the tank... space is tight, skimmer and other equipment is in the way.

tektite - I could go with a high quality TUBV, but I like the control of a gate-valve, much easier to adjust.
