Coral was added two weeks ago and flow was rearranged this weekend.

It has been shrunken since I changed the flow. Today I noticed brown and light spots on the underside and more pulled in.

This is a young tank and I am new to reef tanks. I know I need to do something , but dont know what. Pictures show discoloration and position of the coral relative to my lights and gyre 3k power head. Looking for advice to bring this back to health!

I have a candy cane coral that looks like that. Not sure if it’s the same thing with different names...it came from a tank with higher than typical nutrients and my tank has a little bit higher nutrients than where it came from. Your tank may be too clean or it doesn’t like the new flow. You can try feeding it after lights out or moving it around. I have medium, indirect flow on mine. I’m also a newbie but that’s all I can offer :)

Edit: should have googled first. Two different corals...sorry bud.

It may be candy cane. I thought they were the same.

Would moving it down be too little light?

It looked lime this shortly after adding.

Just like other corals, they’ll open and close and look different through the various stages....
Yes is second this mine will blow up the size of half dollars then later in the day they’ll be the size of a dime or even smaller

learning not to over-react is one of the hardest things. You can kill more coral that way...

This is so true, yet so hard to keep in mind when things are going wrong. Even when we just perceive them as wrong.

looks fine to me, just a little retracted. Possible the light is too powerful. These can tolerate very low light, and in my tank they develop the best color and size when partially shaded, so you might try moving them down to the sand if they continue to look retracted.

Pic from today they are open but edge looks chewed.

Right now they are partially open some edges look chewed I’ll try and get a pic later they will be fully blown up some a quarter size some almost a half dollar size

Make sure if you feed your corals or add any planktons zoo or phyto it’s best to do it at night when its mouth is open and tentacles are out
