This is my first saltwater tank. I know I'm taking on a lot but I've always wanted to get into a reef tank. I've done what I thought was a lot of research and it seems like a great hobby. I've quickly come to realize I barely touched the surface of researching, after starting to purchase equipment, of course.

I know there's a ton of glass lovers out there but I like the look of the acrylic so that's what I'm going with. I'm putting the tank in a tight spot between two doors and wanted a thicker acrylic so I ordered a 48"x18"x20" tank from Truvu. I had them drill the drain and returns in a center rear overflow. Their lead time is 3 to 4 weeks and it's been about 4 weeks now so hopefully I'll hear from them this week. I'm a tradesman and have personally done a few home remodels so I have a ton of tools that I'll be using to build my stand. It'll also be my first attempt at stand/cabinet building.

I did order a ton of different products before joining any reef communities/forums. I quickly came to realize that I should buy what I perceive to be the best that rather than going affordable now and upgrading down the road. So needless to say, I've done a ton of returns, refunds, and exchanges to get what I want.

Stock list to this point:
Truvu 70 gallon on order
Reef Octopus 150SS (still waiting on UPS, lost delivery)
Ecotech Vectra M1 return pump
(2) Ecotech MP10WQD wave pumps
(2) Radion XR30W G3 lights
Ecotech Reeflink
Trigger Systems Sapphire 26 (limited for space under stand)
Trigger Systems Sapphire ATO5 reservoir
DA Archon (on order)
DA SL2V2 w/ orp probe, salinity probe and 2 temp probes
(6) DA DP1 dosing pumps (plan on dosing Red Sea Foundation AB&C, Reef Energy A&B, and NO3:PO4-X)

My original plan was to have MM or Fiji Mud in my refugium but that's now up in the air. I'm open to all opinions and ideas on my setup, especially my sump and dosing plans.

Finished framework of my stand. Probably structural overkill but it's my first stand build.

After paint, still need to add door handles and will trim the top around tank with stained oak after it arrives.

A few more items that I've already purchased.
(2) Finnex 300w heaters (1 spare)
BRS 5 stage RODi
100lbs BRS Pukani rock (originally purchased 50lbs and it didn't look like much so purchased another 50, probably won't use it all)

I'm a little nervous about the Pukani after reading a ton of posts. Second guessing another purchase I guess. I gave it all a 24hr bleach bath. Then a half hour acid bath. It's been curing in saltwater now for two weeks with one WC so far. I haven't seen any change in ammonia or phosphates to this point. Still not 100% sure what they should be but I've got 0.2 ammonia and .06 phosphates. I'm not in any rush so I'll definitely let it cure as long as needed. It would be nice to have a fish or two in the tank on Christmas Day for the kiddos. Any advice on curing the Pukani would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you. Can't wait to really get moving. Think it's going to be a great journey.

Thanks. It weighs a ton. Like I said probably overkill but I wrapped it in oak plywood because it'll probably take a beating from the kids. I'd don't want to go to talk so there isn't much room under it. Going to be jammed under there. Pics to follow as soon as the simp and skimmer come in.

going into our 3rd week of curing the BRS Pukani rock. Got a little nervous because we haven't seen any numbers rise yet, thought maybe we weren't doing ii incorrectly. Now we've finally got a spike. I'd imagine this is going to take awhile if it took the last two weeks just to see phosphates.

I'm really impressed with everything I've read about the DA Archon so I've decided to use that system to monitor and dose the reef tank. I'm still waiting on the arrival of the Archon itself. I've got the dosing pumps and SL2V2 all mounted. Still haven't mounted the PB4 yet.

I'm limited for space under the stand where it's only a 75g tank. I'm keeping the DA system to one side and the Ecotech system to the other. Here is a pic of the Radion power supplies and Reeflink. You can also see one of the 4" Ice Cap fans that I've installed in the back of the stand. Not impressed with them at all. Louder than I expected. Sick of returning things so I'll just replace them once they burn out. Up top I've mounted the controller holsters for the Vortech and Vectra pumps. I had the Reeflink holster 3D printed by "Printed3D.parts".

My Reef Octopus 150S arrived yesterday. I'll start working on cord management as soon as the new sump and ATO arrive and I can see how much room they're going to take up.

Put some rubber groments on the screws and between the wood and the fan. We mount these this way and they quiet right down inn our 18 inch computer racks. Jim Fuller.

The Sapphire 26 and Sapphire ATO 5 came earlier this week. It's a bit tight in the skimmer section but hopefully it'll function properly. Any advice is welcome.
