I got rid of mine just because I felt it wasn't strong enough. I know acrylic is supposed to be really strong and stuff but I wanted my mind to be at ease. They use thinner acrylic on a 55 gallon than the glass on a 20 gallon. With the money you pay for an acrylic tank you can get a really nice low iron glass tank. I have a low iron 8mm innovative marine 25 gallon tank and a 90 gallon tempered glass and the low iron is absolutely stunning. You'd think there'd be no difference but there is.Bowing makes me a little nervous lol
as long as you get a well built tank that has good customer service and has good reviews go for a glass because it's not common to see a seem failure as long as the is well maintained. Acrylic tanks that are tru vu's bend. I've had one. The bend a lot.The only reason i was going to go the acrylic way was to minimize the risk of a seem failure.
I'll have to look around some more. I talked to truvu and they said they would beef up the panels to stop the bowing. Not to mention the price was good.as long as you get a well built tank that has good customer service and has good reviews go for a glass because it's not common to see a seem failure as long as the is well maintained. Acrylic tanks that are tru vu's bend. I've had one. The bend a lot.
