I have been having this battle with myself for a long time. I like the way that LEDs make the tank pop but im just not sure if I fully trust having them on a SPS tank. I'm really wanting to do a t5 metal halide combo but I think that the LEDs make everything look better but its not always about looks I really want growth and color. so if there is anyone out there that can give me proof that LEDs are good and reliable for SPS please try and convince me.

Being at this side of the hobby for 32+ years I've had every light source available except Plasma and will say that nothing in my opinion outshines or out produces LED for both Color and Growth and they are the most efficient light source to boot. You can achieve/produce any spectrum you want with pinpoint accuracy. I spent much time emulating the Phoenix 14K lamp in my DIY build and the BIG advantage is that the color spectrum stays true for years not just 6-7 months. A few Top-Down shots of mostly common Corals from early this year in which you can see the LED emitters reflected off surface.

There are tons of examples of LEDs rocking amazing tanks. Battlecorals is a vendor that only uses LEDs - that speaks volumes. If you search RC you can find many many more amazing LED tanks.
