My dad's green plate coral got picked on by a fish abt 2 months ago. I'm not sure which fish, maybe a sailfin tang.
It's been in my tank for the past 2 months with minimal recovery but it's still hanging on somehow. My lfs told me to put it in a darker area of the tank n try to feed it every few days. But I can't tell whether it's eating the food or not because it doesn't really have a mouth. It's mainly a skeleton.
Do any of u guys know some good ways to bring it back to full health?

That pic wuz taken when we first noticed it wuz getting picked on. I'll try 2 take a better pic of what it looks like right now.

It should have feeder tentacles that will latch on to food. That said if there is no extension of flesh or tentacles DO NOT throw the plate out as these have a tendancy to start to generate baby plates from a dead skeleton. It's not 100% going to happen but try it, mine has kicked out about 30-40 babies in the last year.

I wuznt planning on it as I read tht in the book of coral propagating.
How long was it before yours started popping babies?

It sat in the sand bed for 4-5 months before I noticed anything. At first I thought it was aptasia but looked closer and sure enough it was a baby plate.

It's recovering! Since I put it in the sand bed under the lights abt one week ago, I have fed it 2x n it's lips r reforming. the feeder tentacles around the mouth and rim are also growing back. At this rate, I should b totally recovered one week from now.
