I'm just getting started practicing taking macro shots. Here's a few and if everyone likes them I'll post more as I take them.

Same here. I'm new to DSLR and I take 10 pics of one coral to get one semi good pic. I don't even have a macro lens yet but I will eventually.

I have had my DSLR for years but just haven't been doing macro. You'll get used to it really quick but unless you study the manual methodically you probably won't know what every setting and button does. I certainly don't and like I said I've had the thing for years. My tip to you is to get one of those pocket sized camera cheat sheets. I have one somewhere around the house and it is so useful. Pssst- here's the kicker, I'm using a 30mm lens. The one that came with the camera :xd:

Nice Shots, What type of camera you using if you dont mind me asking?

Thanks! I'm using a Nikon D80.

Since I'm just starting out it takes an obnoxious amount of pics to get the one perfect one (or almost perfect).

Awesome pics. From my understanding, even the pros take huge numbers of pictures in order to get that one perfect shot. Eventually you'll reduce the number needed, but there will still be many in the "junk" bin.

:clap2: Awesome pics!

Thank you!

Awesome pics!

what macro lens you have ?

Thank you, I actually use a standard 30mm lens wand a neat little DIY trick which allows you to mount the lens to the camera backwards. If anyone is interested I can post more details about how to do that. It costs ~$10-$20 versus $500-$600.

Great pics! Did you paint glitter on some of those? LOL I've never seen coral that shimmers!

Thank you! The second and third are close ups of my maxima clam and the other sparkly one is some neat macro algae I have.

+1 me too!

Love the shots, bongo! I've just started using a DSLR too and wow i'll take 200 pics and like maybe 1 or 2 of them. Totally brings a different aspect to the hobby and I'm pretty addicted to macro shots already.

The halloween hermit is a nice pic, i really like that one. keep on posting!
