I was using the premix, mixing your own is definitely a more cost effective route to take.

And apparently I am using the same amount in my 120 as you were in your 210! lol

Randy's new sodium hydroxide formula has an even stronger pH effect than soda ash. He said that it gives the same pH increase as fully saturated kalkwasser on a unit-to-unit basis of alk. Meaning if you were to add enough kalk to increase your dKH by 1 it would be the same pH bump if you added enough sodium hydroxide to increase the dKH by 1.

I have been using this recipe and am quite happy with it.

Sounds like you were, luckily this tank was started only a year ago so it isn’t jam packed yet and didn’t have sps in it for the first few months but it’s getting there so that’s why I’m making the change, hopefully I don’t run into the same ph issues!
