Trying Out New Camera

Looking good Tommy! Tank shots are very hard to get good. Brandon and Dave are two of the best! Dave shoots with the same camera. He will hopefully be along and give a few pointers that directly relate to your camera. Brandon is right though. Tri-pod and either a timmer or a remote will make a big differance.
Also you can look in the photography forum and there are a few threads with some really good info in there about camera settings for the rebel. I have the same camera but I am a deff novice!!

Those are nicce shots especially shooting by hand!! keep it up

I'd highly recommend the remote switch. Not too pricy and helps tremendously, especially shooting with a macro lenses. With a tripod, look for something that will hold your gear and with a bubble level, if you can. I thought the one I bought had a bubble level, but it doesn't and it is hard to get it just right sometimes (or frustrating, anyway).

The most common macro people seem to be pairing up with the XT and XTi are the Canon f2.8 100mm and the Sigma f2.8 150mm. I'm using the Sigma lens and like it for the most part. I've seen some nice shots come from the Canon lens, too (that's what Rev shoots with).

Basic generalized tips on shooting are use the AV function with an fstop above 10 or so. Have plenty of lighting around the tank, too.
