I have a 90gal (rimmed) tank that will be mostly lps. I currently have a set of black boxes but man they are ugly.

I really like the AI 32 as I already use the Nero 5s and i kinda like the app but the mounts imo are the killer to me. Got to buy so much extra stuff just to hang the dang things $150 for a hang kit.

I really like the Maxspect Jump blues as they come with everything and wireless.

I would like to keep it under $600 for two lights. But am a bit flexible. Anyone have any other suggestions?

You could start with 2 16hds and add more later. 4 would work.
I run 3 on my 36x24x12 frag system and 2 on my 20g nano cube.
Color and growth are very good.
I prefer the gooseneck mounts over the metal ones.
I have both and the gooseneck are much more solid of a fixture.
Here is the tank.

I did think about that but thought it may look silly. This things in my living room.

I don't have much basis for comparison but I really like my Noopsyche K7V3s. They're definitely on the lower end of your spectrum but they're super quiet and low-profile; The light I'm getting out of such a small package defies expectation.

Yea if its mounted on the back it will look very streamlined, imo.
I like the singles as you can space them to your desired coverage.
You want silly look at my old 120 with halides and orphek bars.

I saw a really cool Wood Canopy. It was hung with Stainless Steel Brackets, and Stainless Steel Cables. The Cable went to a Pulley like they use on Day Sailboats, attached to the Ceiling, then through the Wall Guided by another Pulley with a Nylon Wheel. Then to this Bracket made with Unistrut. When he wanted to raise the Canopy, he went out to the Garage and pulled down on the Bracket, that swiveled on a bolt. Locked it in place, with the Canopy up, to work on his Aquarium. The Canopy didn’t touch the Aquarium, even when all the way down. Only thing I didn’t like is there was no safety cable, if the lifting cable snapped.

yeah but look at that coverage. I don't see a single shadow. Those reflectors are boss.

I considered them but the guybin here pushing them sounds like a robot when he replies to people and something about product that ships directly from China rubs me the wrong way :p

I've got 3 maxspect jumps over my SR80. They certainly aren't radions which I have over my reefer 625 but the get the job done and the app is flawless for me. Better than Mobius. I have a reef breeders 16 over my frag. I like the simplicity of the reefbreeders and the overall way it looks In better times I would replace all of my lights with reefbreeders.

Whats so special about the reefbreeders? A guy locally has v248 forsale $450. Looks like a long black box idk

It pretty much is, i think they buy them through some chinese brand and re-labels, and maybe adds the extra control themselves but does include a warranty not that it would matter for a used fixture.

Nothing is special about them. Decent build quality with good diodes at a middle of the road price point. Roughly the same color layout as the AI lights, just spread out and not in pucks.

He’s working through google translate. I’ve ordered from their website, they were here within a week, they’re great lights for the money, I wouldn’t worry about them coming from China (there is a US distributor if that makes you feel better). I actually switch from an AI prime to them, and I don’t know that I’d switch back.

I feel like if im going to go that route i might as well get the Smart Farm or Nicrew leds from amazon. Which are even cheaper.

I would prob do the 2 maxspect jump over the 2 ai primes as you really will need 4 ai primes to properly cover the tank. Alternatively you could go with led bars like quanta reef or orphek. Is this tank 36" or 48" though

smatfarm has been getting pretty good reviews, i have thought about going that direction myself. Jump is great for LPS tanks though and have a wider coverage so i would probably go that way if i was to just do an lps tank with no acropora or only at the very top of the tank. There may be some light spill as it is made for a 24" by 24" area
If this is a 48" x 18" tank as i am guessing the ai primes would fit the 18" wide footprint better but again 3-4 for coverage on the 48" area
