I have a newly cycled tank with ceramic rock. Have 2 clowns for about 1 month and sunset damsel for around 1 week. Since the cycle I have had brown/rusty looking algae which I have read is normal and it started turning purple. Now though there is a part at the top which is like a thin film of purple over the rock. Does anyone have any ideas?

Agree cyno is what this appears to be.

Edited due to iPhone making the word cyno into cynicism lol.

That’s cyano. Sometimes just goes away on its own. Maybe up the flow and feed alittle less of it stays. Dustin

Thanks for the replies. Will this harm my fish ?
The algae is common in new tanks and not harmful to the fish.
The algae grows from nutrients in the water. Keeping up with water changes will help minimize algae growth and your fish will enjoy the cleaner water.

And welcome,
Let’s see some more pix of that tank. There’s a meet and greet forum if you are comfortable posting there so we can all get to know you.

And qas already said, not harmful, keep flow up.
