Ok. So just started dosing Alk/Calc/mag. Using Fritz RPM.
First test I was at LFS
7dkh
420 calc
1200 mag
So I started dosing
2.5ml Alk for a week
5ml calc 3 days
Magnesium a week.

so API test kits are terrible. Day 3 I got an over 500 calc so I stopped even though I didn’t think it was even possible.
Go back in today,
10 dkh
390calc
1100 mag.
how should I get magnesium up best?

I used epsom salt, or Nigari salt in the past.
The mag from the ocean is a combination of Mg chloride and Mg sulfate, look up the formula or purchase a premix for reef purposes.
I think the recommendation was max 100ppm charge/day.
the issue you have is that the Mg dropped between measurements. Get a reliable test kit and keep track of the number changes between additions. Get an ICP test done from the second addition/test day and use the ICP results to calibrate your test kit. Adjust the final target number after you figure out how much your test kit lies(they all have error gaps) once the Mg is on target 1350,?1400,? 1500? What ever your target is/ then try to get the alk additions stabilized to keep that target.
My Alc is>is .1 + atm and I hope this helps. Gl

Why are you dosing? How old is the tank? How much coral stock? Have you checked and verified that weekly water changes no longer suffice?
