Trying to identify this Algae, Cyano?

I was able to blow some of the cyano with a turkey baster. Chemiclean should be here tomorrow. I've got a bubbler ready to go into the sump but I have seen a few people run the protein skimmer without the top for even more aeration. Any reasons why I shouldn't do that as well?

The skimmer cup will get full as it pulls the dying cyano out. So make sure you periodically check it.

I was just going to take the cup off and let it run without the cup. Creating lots of bubbles
