Trying to raise Dendronephthya and Scleronephthya part1

Speak of the devil.

Perimeters, fine, to much fine particles floating around. Way to much. And foods I feed, cloud water, but doesn't effect perimeters
Need to supercharge my filtration

Lotta thinking, which way to tackle this

Is the particles from the feeding? In that case you might look over the feeding, maybe there's stuff the Scleronephthyas doesn't eat that stays in the water? Or is there other corals in the tank that need larger particles?

I haven't been back at work yet, still on holiday for a week so I don't have any news on our Scleronephthyas.

I'm back on land!

Any news? You thinking of more/better filtration? What's your parameters? KH, temp, NO3, PO4?

What I'm thinking, is to filtrate 100%, without stressing corals. Remove cloudiness completely and reintroduce water . I have some ideas. Still planning
Okey. Maybe larger sump and filter, and lower turn around rate between sump and display. I would go for a large macro algae filter outdoor.
Or a compartment of the sump with low flow to get particles to settle on the bottom and get easy to remove. Seen that type of filter on aquaponic systems. Something like "vortech" filters. Check it out.

Ok, I've tweaked the food I've been feed my Scleronephthya, I increase the bacteria feed, considerable . I have a Tunicate. One opening was small(see picture w/arrow) before increase bacteria . After adding bacteria, within minutes, same as big opening. second picture shows larger mouth. The Scleronephthya are enlarging. Polyps trying to expand to the fullest. They love bacteria. Only question for now is, will increase of bacteria effect water perimeters? I'll have to wait and see if growth begins too. The bacteria I'm feeding was by accident. Choosing that bacteria and feeding it by accident.

Do you have any more roots?
I lost the frags, test tank wasn't ready, I moved frags back to DT. This must of stressed them. Will try again, when new order if corals comes in. I think I found the food for Scleronephthya corals. Next few weeks I'll know.

9 months, to figure out, foods these corals like. BACTERIA number one food, and phytoplankton. Some protein foods last.
Hi mate!
Sounds interesting. What kind of bacteria do you feed? Same as before or something new?

Something new. By accident. I hope water perimeters stay safe. The water perimeters weren't the issues. The foods were. Not feeding the right ones. We'll see if my hypothesis is right, to be determined next few weeks . Eventually I'll let you know, what I'm feeding.

Still feed same foods, just added separately the bacteria in refugium.

I see progress now

Okey! Hope you're on the right direction!

Spoke to two colleagues yesterday, sounds like our Scleronephthya are alive. And our summer substitute will try to do some time lapse with our GoPro camera :)
I'm back at work on Monday, will be really interesting to see the results with the same feeding for over a month. So next week there will photos and we'll see if our feeding is okey or needs to be changed.

7pm on Wednesday I began feeding more bacteria. Its 4:45am.This coral like the rest were deficient of nutrients. Now that it's opened. Growth is next goal. I think one month or sooner. Will know results.

Coral is half its size from 3 weeks ago

Did you mean to attach the pdf?

Makes perfect sense, all the experiments on these corals, by scientists and hobbiest always had issues raising these corals.
Because lack of sufficient bacteria . We can duplicate feeding like oceans we have used ocean water trying to raise them. Only thing missing was sufficient amounts of bacteria. We'll see if my hypothesis is right? Time will tell

Will say this, credit to @Sallstrom, some of his first conversations mentioned bacteria to feed them.

How's your sun coral?
Still doing good. More and more polyps poke out. I put too much food in yesterday and it was upset, but for the most part putting it in a container, squirting food on the polyps, then leaving it for a few hours seems to work well. Do you have any idea how long it take for it to start regrowing?
