Trying to save money on qt tank will this work?

So I am about to set up a qt tank and I'm trying to save a few bucks. I was thinking about using tap water and running carbon to remove the crap in my water. I just looked at the water report and it confirms my rest nitrates is about .19 and they use chlorine to purify. I get good quility water here and I'm wondering if running carbon will be fine for the qt so I don't have to buy distilled.

I don't use rodi in my dt. Going to try to soon though. But six months and my fish are still happy.

As long as you are removing the chlorine and only quarantining fish, the tap water will be fine.
