trying to steup future reef tank not sure ??

What's up guys well I'm a beginner with the se world I've had a 10g tank going strong some things died along the way which sucks but I finally got it balance I've had enough with a 10g and wanna move up with so egging easier for me so I decided to go do research on a new reef ready tank. I went to the lfs around here and we were thinking of doing a 75g tank originally I wanted to do a 60 but I have a return pump magdrive 12 from an old fw project I had along time ago so I just found it and was curious what is acceptable with the mag12 I feel its gonna be over kill for the 75 or 60 should I seek it to get the right pump for the 60 cause I really want a 60g cube tank but 75g means more money to spend on live rock more sand etc.... I'm kinda co fused on what to do
 
Hey there, congratulations on the decision to move up. In my experience, I have found that no matter what size tank you have, you always end up wanting to go bigger. That being said, I would try and go as big as you can to prolong the bigger bug but if you decide to go with the 60g, I would definitely get the right pump for it. There are a lot of nice dc pumps out there or maybe a Eheim 1260 if you want to go cheaper. Good luck.
 
Well maybe not cheaper in budget I just have a mag12 in my room sitting around and I really want a 60 g tank and I really don't wanna spend the money on a return pump if I have this one but isn't 1200gph to much for a 60g or 75g cube
 
Mag 12 will be to much but you could use a manifold so you could also run i.e.. chiller, reactors, uv sterilizer etc. this will use up the gph. Also you could T off the return pump to split it up as well or sell it and buy something smaller. I use the manifold option and run a chiller, uv and a carbon reactor.

This is my manifold and its made of PVC, you can also use a flex hose off your return pump. Basically you run a T off your return pump and divert the water to other devices to a chiller, etc. or even just into the sump so that all the water doesn't return straight all at once to the return nozzle in the tank.
