Tube Anenome and a Heart Attack

So I looked over and my tube had rocketed off the sand bed and was floating around my tank. He stung my cynarina pretty bad, and I could not rebury him on the fly like that, he was just too slippery. He left an old tube in the tank which I got out, and he looks like this

Now is that just a new tube, or did he just detach himself because he hated where he was and he's got to build a new tube? I did get him reburied in the sand, so I can only wait and see what happens, but he seriously freaked me out.

OMG, good thing you got it on time.
This tube can do some serious damage in your tank if not stationary.

It was definitely the current. Changed it up and reburied him and both the tube nems seem to be much happier. He made it through the night fully extended in the sand. I think he's already starting to build a new tube. It was weird, before I changed the flow I buried him again and he was thrusting upward like he wanted out again. How long does it take them to build a new tube?

Funny, I just had mine take a walk about. It left its sand bed and is now residing in a hole in a piece of live rock. It stung a piece of branching monti pretty bad in the process.
