Excuse the algae having an outbreak I am working on. Notice two weeks ago a black coil like tube on the base of a trumpet coral. I thought I saw something come out of it so went to grab it with hemostats and it was hard and crunched. Tonight noticed that it was larger and when I fed the tank something black came out and grabbed food. When I zoomed in and took a picture I noticed odd white things that I never noticed before as well. Anyone have an idea what they are? Should I take the coral out and dip or is it something that is harmless? Thank you.

Hi!
It’s a Vermetid Snail. —Can be an eyesore or irritate Corals when they multiply. Just scrape the entire tube off, suck it up and toss it. Some people also super glue them shut.

Do the white things move? It’s hard to tell much about them from the pic.

Thank you for the quick reply. I like having a name for things so in can read up on them. I haven't seen the white things move but will monitor and try to get a better picture.
