Picked up my first sps yesterday, a drag of tubinaria. Couldn't find much on them. What are yalls experiences with these corals? Pretty easy to care for? That's what I gather from the little bit I could find on them. The polyps aren't open as big today as they were yesterday.

Actually they are considered an sps, just like a Hydnophora is considered an sps but acts and appears like an LPS.

Needs intense lighting to maintain that great yellow coloration, the coral will turn brownish if not.
Higher flow as you would for sps. Maintenance of the big 3, Ca/alk/mag.
A very slow grower, but a great addition over all.

Ok so it seems to be getting better polyp extension when the lights are low or first coming on. My lights ramp from 0-100% from 6am-7am every morning when I'm getting ready for work. It has good PE then. I'm at home from work on lunch now. My lights have a break period with no light from 8am-4:30pm. They have good PE right now with no lights on but ambient light coming in from outside. At 4:30 pm my lights come back on at 100% and stay there until 9pm when the whites start ramping down to zero at 10pm. The blues stay on at 100% until 11pm and ramp down to zero from 11pm-12am. Do you think that it is still getting adjusted to my lights seeing as it seems to have better PE when the lights are less intense?

Wonder what the fish and corals think when the lights go to 100 percent intinsity in a hour then back off for several hours. Just a thought. Never heard of anybody having a light schedule like that.

I've thought about changing it up so it doesn't do that but it doesn't seem to be hurting anything so far. Everything seems to be happy. I do it like that so I can check things out in the morning before work and then the tank is off not getting unnecessary light while I'm out. Then it's on again so everything should be opened by the time I get home.
