Tubing Calcium Reactor to PH

New to calcium reactors and I will be setting mine up soon. I’m following Kevan’s method on YouTube of starting high on ph and finding the correct melting point. He didn’t say much about the bubble counting, or he actually said to not even count it. How should I have that part set? Or do you really not even look at that and just have the co2 set to a certain psi? I’ve never set one up yet so I’m not sure how that part of the system works.

I'm running a Vertex Reactor, Electronic carbon doser and Kamoer pump. I set my Kamoer to deliver 54 ml per minute and haven't touched the effluent. I set my bubbles per second at 4 on the Carbon doser regulator and started my PH inside the reactor at 7.1 using Keven's method. Tested daily and worked my way down to 6.8 by increasing the psi being delivered, (big knob) which is the sweet spot. Alk has remained constant for the last 4 months.

There are 2 ways to tune. Set ph in reactor and adjust effluent or set effluent at a constant value and tune ph in reactor till you hit the sweet spot. I started at 7.1 PH and worked my was down to 6.8 PH Only took a couple of days and everything has been constant

My main reason for doing it this way is most of the people I've heard say negative things about the Calcium Reactor was due to effluent line clogging at lower drip rates. Just keep in mind that at higher ml per minute on the Kamoer you will probably need to change the tubing more often. I waited 4 months to change my first tube and it was almost completely worn through. I plan on changing the Kamoer tube every 3 months now. Hope this helps. Phil

LOL, I thought you had one. To be honest it's not really needed. When I was waiting for mine to arrive, I was feeding the Reactor with a Tom's Aqualifter running wide open and had no problem locking in my Calcium Reactor.

What kind of lifespan were you getting on your aqualifters doing it like that?
