I have an issue with my Goby. I was told it was a Bano?
Looked at some pictures online, but they were different.
Anyway, the little guy has developed some kind of mass
growing behind his left fin. He his still eating and swimming
well, but I am worried. I've had him for about seven
years and hope there is something I can do for him. If
anybody has any ideas what it could be, I would appreciate
any advice you might offer.

Looks like Lymphocystis, the lumpy cauliflower like growth, sometimes cottony or fibrous as well. It's a usually harmless virus. They usually present when the fish's immune system is under stress or has been compromised in some fashion.
Have had very good results treating fish with Lympho by adding Beta Glucan to the fish's diet. See article below for info: https://www.advancedaquarist.com/2003/9/aafeature

I mix food + Beta Glucan + focus + a bit of RO to create the consistency you want to work with to feed your fish.

Thanks for the advice. Pardon my ignorance, but what is "focus"?
Also, from reading the article, it does not appear Beta Glucan
will harm any other of my reef inhabitants. Has that been your
experience as well?

I only have a few fish, crabs, purple lobster and mushrooms in
my tank right now. Plus a mangrove and Cheato in my refugium.

I mix the BG with food and use in my reef tank. Cheato in the sump is thriving as usual. All is well.

Focus is a product made by Seachem that binds foods together. Most use it to bind meds with foods to make sure the fish actually swallow the food to the gut. But you can also use it to bind vitamins to boost the fish's immune system. Works pretty good. Can also use unflavored gelatin or "agar" to bind foods.

So expensive gelatin.

Thanks for the added information. Already ordered the BG, now I'll order
some Focus too. Going to give it my best shot and see what I can do. Sounds
like I have a chance to help the little guy. Does BG dissolve at all? I am supposed to get it by Saturday, so I was hoping to get a jump on it by mixing with some
frozen bribe shrimp. (After thawing out of course)

The BG I use comes in a capsule and is a powder. And it does dissolve.

Great. The article you pointed out said to use 7.5mg capsules because
it was more pure. All I could find was 10mg capsules in that range, so hoping that will be good enough.

Again, thanks for your feedback. I learned something! :)
