I’ve had the 3155 ato for about a year and a half and it worked good for the first year. For the last 6 months it stops working sometimes and let’s the sump level get low until I realize it’s stopped working. I then have to manually top it off. It then works for a week or 2 and the same situation happens. Could the sensor just be getting dirty to often and requires cleaning? When I refill it manually it starts working again. Also when it’s working it turns on constantly seems like every couple minutes. Could the whole unit just be bad?

Its most likely the sensor or its electrical contacts .need to be cleaned. The safety float valve should also be cleaned on a regular basis.
Sometimes my pump needs to be unplugged then plugged back in. Its 5 years old ....... losing its mind I think.

Thank you

The smaller Tunze ATO has its issues, once you figure them out you will be much happier.
1). If you have a air bubble in the pump it will not pump water, IF you do not make sure it does not have a air bubble when you refill your container, AARGH

2). If your pump times out, it will not re star itself until you unplug/plug in the small box.

3). If the wall is too thin on the sump the magnet will pull the float and you will have either a time out or overfill.

Weird, I have two 3155s on separate tanks that have been in use for 8 & 10 years and both might have gotten a toothbrush cleaning less then 5x in all those years and other than the consumable water pump, they are rock solid IME.

The less than minimal times that I have cleaned them, I just use a toothbrush while the sensor is still in place.
I see calcium dots on the sensor which doesn't brush away but it has not affected the operation at all.

Something is different in the latest manufactured models. My Tunze ATO's from years ago work perfectly! Two of my 4 new ones will not sensor when the water level falls below it. But when I turn the unit off and on, it will fill to the correct level. I will send those two back to Tunze to investigate what is happening. Because of these failures, I am going either install a second Tunze or another brand of ATO for redundancy. I would hate to go out of town and come back to a filling level failure.
