I’ve had my Tunze Osmolator for 10 months now. It’s been working flawlessly, until 3 days ago. My unit when plugged in, Shows the pump on light, but there’s NO water flow from tube. I can hear the pump humming. Ten seconds afterwards, the water does come out at the end, but only 4 seconds of flow. I’ve cleaned the optical sensor and did a dry run, held the pump upside down for approximately 8 seconds. This would release any trapped air pockets in the pump. Have to continually add RODI water to prevent evaporated water from my sump. This of course Will significantly affect my salinity in my 54 gallon tank. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Sounds like the pump may have gone bad. Best to post this in the Tunze forum. Roger will take care of you. Unless you are evaporating several gallons of water a day your salinity isn't going to be affected too much by filling once a day.

Appreciate your response. Just unplugged and replugged 3 minutes ago. Heard the pump humming, reached down and picked it up. Was vibrating but No flow. Turned it upside down while still submerged, for 10 seconds. After placing back on the bottom, it started to flow after 10-12 seconds......flow lasted about 20 seconds, but the flow output was not as forceful as it use to be. Thanks again. Will reach out to the Tunze forum.

I personally keep a spare pump on hand. They only last a few years for me but I let mine run dry all the time. I pick up one when Premium Aquatics run their 15% off sales.

I replace the pumps every 3-5 years. I have known people who go through them faster usually from letting them run dry frequently. You can also adjust the speed of the pump by unscrewing the back of the controller and turning the flow knob clockwise. This alone may solve the problem.

Appreciate it.....good idea...xtra pump. Thanks

Agreed with above.

Mine lasted about a year in a kalkwasser ATO solution.

Its been about a year with the new one in pure RODI water with no issues as of yet.
