I asked Tunze Germany if the Tunze 8850 was suitable for a quarantine tank including SPS.
They said their engineers had no doubt that this light is sufficient for my intended use, while it may not produce maximum growth and coloration, it would certainly sustain corals for a quarantine period.
What's your take on it?
The main reason for this is that I can place it in a way that doesn't outright blind me.
My quarantine tank is next to the desk where I work, and I don't need more blue light keeping me awake. I already have my display tank behind me.
