Tunze 9001 one w/ IM 40 issuee

Bought the Tunze 9001 yesterday set it up after about an hour of messing with it. Thought I got the hang of it. Woke up around 5Am saw the little cup was filled with water but was the water brown (dirty)

So I closed the airtube a bit more and now the foam won't hit the top? I checked to make sure everything is connected. Even have the air flow completely open and nothing... The foam just hands around the middle. And it's super loud.. kind of annoyed with this thing feel like returning it.

If the skimmer is new, they can take 7-14 days to fully break in. Just slowly make adjustments over that time to try to tune the skimmer to your bio-load.

Zeal, the air adjuster is very touchy. The slightest hair of a turn can effect a wet from dry skim. I would fully open the valve and then slowly close it till the foam reaches 1/3 the cup tube.

Ill try this I guess, Just weird it was working fine early this morning.

Edit: just opened it all the way Ill give it an hour.

Is it possible theres no bioload in the tank hence why no foam is being produced?

Yes. Are you still cycling? To be honest I would shut it off till you add live stock. Even then I would wait a month after. Last thing you want is salinity swings and trace element depletion at an early stage.

Tank is a month old. Has chomis Clowns some shrimp snails hermits

Then I would use your best judgement. Skimmers help with over feeding and bioload so take it for what it's worth. Patience might be key for this situation.

Yeah, the Tunze is very finicky, but hang in there and keep playing around with it until you get it dialed in. I swear by mine. I have a 9004 on a 45 Nano and it is excellent. I actually purchased 2 different skimmers when I bought mine and the Tunze was so much better than the Hydor which was cheaply made. The Tunze is well made (Germany) and does an awesome job skimming my tank. It also comes with a better warranty than most and I hear they have good customer service. I liked the skimmer so much that I bought their ATO.

I'm guessing just set it to the marked waterline and play with the air vavle... Scared of causing a flood

I don't mess with the air valve too much. The biggest difference is when the height is set correctly.

I moved it down to the marked water line but it's just loud now.. got bubbles but the whole dang thing is loud....

I wouldn't worry too much about the water line. I actually never knew about the water line until just recently. I try to make sure the water level is about half way up the grate on the front of the skimmer.

Setting this thing up is a pain, sometimes it works sometimes it doesnt..
