Hi I’ve read a lot of posts for my tunze skimmer 9001
So do I close the valve all the way and open slowly till I see bubbles and them leave it ?

The valve is for air. Mine is about open a quarter of the way. It will draw maximum air when fully open giving you a wetter skimmate. You adjust the height of the skimmer by adjusting the magnet mounts to your desired height.

I did this vid yesterday for an update to my Tunze 9001. I am going for medium to dark skimmate on my tank. Tank is Fusion 15. I modded the magnet and glued it to the side of the skimmer for easier height adjustment.

I'm not sure what's wrong with mine, it sounds like carrot bouncing in juice spinner and fills my tank with micro bubbles as soon as I open the air valve.

I set it right on the waterline mark.
Overnight it skimmed 10mm of really dark water. But noise was bothering me in another room across the house.
air valve is just open, literally 5mm of the closed position, any more and it sounds like coffee grinder and fills up the cup in a minute or two.

Video of it running, about an hour after turning it on.

the microbubbles on mine did not stop until 2 weeks break in.

I have cleaned it since then and it does not produce any more microbubbles like it was brand new.

Doesn't make sense from engineering point of view. Did it get any quieter?
Tried with surface attachment and it's unusable, 10x more microbubbles and gurgling with anything but air half open. Air half open = cup overflowing in 5 minutes.

More bubbles video

Check if the air intake close to to pump propeller is not clogged it happens quite often.
I am injecting RO water with syringe in air tube regularly to prevent this. Mine is 9004 but I believe the pump is similar

I just got mine installed in my Biocube. I can’t get anything to overflow up into the cup. What am I possibly doing wrong? You have tried turning the air all the way up or low. I can see it making bubbles down inside of it. I have never used a skimmer

It sounds like you have it installed too shallow or your air line is blocked.

On the front there's a wavy line marking the water line.

Bottom front transparent part with blue foam insert gets full of microbubbles as soon I crack open my airline. If it's not happening for you then check for kinks in ait tube.

Thank you. I had read a few posts that said to go a little below the water level line for the best effect. Well it was not, I moved the skimmer lower, maybe even a little lower than the water line and I got some tea colored skim this morning. Whoohoo.
