I have a tunze 9004 dc skimmer in my nuvo 30L and it’s constantly giving off micro bubbles. It’s been doing this since day one.

I had some chaeto in the chamber next to it so it was blocking out most of the bubbles but since I removed the chaeto now the micro bubbles make it all the way to my return pump and are all over my display area.

I have the setting on just 3 clicks above zero so it’s on a very low setting. The bubbles seem to be coming out of the bottom but it’s hard to tell since the chamber is so small.

here are some pics.

How can I fix this?

Has it been running long enough to be broken in? They sometimes need to build up some biofilm internally.
Are you running the water inlet somewhere in the middle of the teeth?
Have you tried closing the air adjustment all the way, then make micro adjustments daily?
Once set these work well but I find them finicky from the start

It’s been running for 6 months.

the inlet is at the top and the overflow teeth are at the left side in the second picture I posted.

I have not closed the air inlet all the way.

Try moving the whole unit up or down to adjust the water level in the overflow teeth.
I found it worked best with the water level dead center in the teeth.
Only make one adjustment per day. It helps to keep notes as to how it affects it.

I’ve played with the height of the skimmer and dead center is where I get the least bubbles but still getting bubbles. Right now it’s at dead center.

From here, all I can suggest is try completely closing the air inlet valve, then daily open it a small bit at a time
This is what they suggest in the manual and all I've ever done.
They make a sponge you can put on the bottom/output if you can't solve it.

When I close it completely there are no air bubbles. Soon as I crack it open I get bubbles. I’ll leave it closed for a day and try to crack it open again in a day to see if that does anything.

thanks

Took some time but letting it run on the lowest setting for a while before slowly cranking it up is what did the trick. thanks!
