Tunze 9004 Skimmer

I have tried many including the reef octopus HOB 1000
And the tunes out performs them all
My skinate is black coffee and the cup collects a lot of junk
It's on a 40 breader

How often do you empty your collection cup? I need somethinf that can skim really dry so it takes longer to fill the cup. Im not always home sometimes upto a week :O

i empty my cup every 3 days but i like it wetter ,on the 40 i run it very dry empty about 5 days unless lazy then 6

Im not sure if i want to mount the tunze9004 sideways on my im40 im thinking the waste from the tank would bypass the skimmer since it'll be mounted from the overflow sideways. Im so confused right now if im going to buy tunze or pls50

So I have an Innovative Marine 40 and I just purchased and set up a tunze 9004 in the first chamber. I have never had a skimmer before so I have a few questions. First, the skimmer has a opening on the top where the air hose comes out of, can water go into that part? Second, what's the best way to know it's tuned properly?

Would the skimmer fit in the middle chambers? I saw you took out the media basket to get it in the 1st one. Would it fit in the middle?

No it won't I have the same skimmer in my Nuvo 40 and love it pulls great skim

Once you have this skimmer tuned in it does a good job. I run it on a 50 gallon aio tank and it keeps my nitrates within 2ppm. You want to get a nice dark color skimmate.
