Has anybody used one on a 75? Does it still do a decent job. Thinking of buying one for my 40 gallon. But I want to upgrade tanks next summer. So I'd ideally like to use it on a larger tank for at least a couple months.

Mine works flawlessly on my jbj45. Skimmer would depend on your biolad mostly. For a larger tank I would recommend the 9012 IMO.

Yeah I'd like to get the 9012 eventually but it seems like overkill/much more expensive to run it on a 40 gallon for 6-7 months. I'd rather just get the 9004 use it on my current tank until I upgrade and then and run it until the next black Friday sale or something.

Just wanted to check if it was feasible or I should just hold off for now.

Yeah you can definitely run a underrated skimmer it’s still going to skim. Just maybe not as effective as a larger one.
