Ive had this skimmer up and running for a few months now. Its dialed in ok but the micro bubbles are insane. Mine sits inside the display as I don’t have a sump. Ive read that it goes away with time like how long?

Also is there anyone that works for Tunze speak English? Or do they even have a CS department in English?

All English emails come to me, but almost all Germans speak English.

Where do the bubbles come from, front entrance, sides or bottom? Common causes are submerged too deep with air excessively closed, stong flow under the skimmer creating a venturi effect and drawing bubbles out or use of an organic substance with surfactant properties (dechlorinator, stress coat, medications, algaecides, bacteria supplements, vitamin/amino supplements, non phenol free filter floss or organic exchange resins).

Ive sent several emails and heard nothing. It is what it is i guess.

Its as high as it can go (has a rim at the top of the tank). The bubbles look like they are coming from the bottom.

Can you clarify how deep the intake is? You will need to space it out if the trim is preventing it from being positioned properly, this is done on this skimmer by adding an extra set of magnets as a sandwich. Typically, bubbles coming from the bottom mean it is too deeply submerged and the air is closed off too far to compensate. As you close the air, water flow increases, the bubbles move further and faster and more are ejected. I take it this skimmer was purchased new, recently?

So i would need to purchase additional magnets to raise it up higher? Yes brand new. Ill measure when i get home. I will say it does skim ok and its been running for about 2 months now and the tank is new.

Just a rough idea of how much of the intake is submerged, 1/4 is the minimum, 1/2 is the maximum and the key is to work with depth first before restricting the air. One set of magnets, you will use one half as a space top and bottom and attach the magnets on the skimmer to those magnets. Alternatively, you can just lower the tank water level, water level at the trim is not really necessary, globally, most tanks are without trim and there is no reason you cannot run a lower water level in a sumpless system.

Ive been raising my water level lately as i have a HoB Refugium and its loud sometimes with the splashing of water. I could cut the rim i guess.

This set is what you need, this attaches to the outside magnets through the glass, and then the magnets on the skimmer stick to these, it will space it out the width of the magnets, about 1/2"

It is too deep, I might try as a test, just lowering the water level.

So the water level should be towards the bottom of the grates. Got ill try it out. May just remove the lip on the rim to get it to come up some.

I Hated the skimmer imO OVER RPRICED and OVERHYPPED BIG TIME> I changed skimmers and NOW am Much pleased and didn t need to be aggravated any more with Tunze after 2 months 0f constant fiddling and LITTLE RESULTS LOL

Its really my only option. As im not doing a HOB option and don’t have a sump. I mean it works just has a lot of micro bubbles.

I wish you luck . Have You consider reef octo Bh 100 hang on skimmer, I changed to that on a 125 gallon tank constant skimming consistent and about 150 dollars cheaper than Tunze and MADE of acrylic hich in my opinion looks great and NO micro bubbles!! Good luck

Try this, unplug it, open the air all the way and plug it back in. The depth looks good now, but the air needs to be as far open as possible, keep in mind as you close the air, you increase the water flow, that means the bubbles travel faster/farther and more are ejected. The air shouldn't be restricted more than about 1/3rd.

imo its worse now

I mean it’s skimming and all just the entire tank looks like my livewell when i go surf fishing. It is a bit of a let down spending so much money on this thing just for it to do this.
