Hey all,

So I have a considerable bioload on my 50G AIO, but also, I didn't realize how big the 9012 is. Either way, I managed to get it into the middle chamber of my Waterbox 50G AIO. I've gone ahead and added the holiday skimmer cup, connected to an Avast Locker, as well as a CO2 scrubber.

That said, in looking at videos and pics online, I feel like the water should be lower in the skimmer section, but when I've tried to raise the skimmer, I get a gurgling sound. The skimmer has been off and on for a week, so I think it's still breaking in, but I was curious if there were any suggestions regarding configuration so that I can stop the foaming over the top, as it's getting everywhere.

My setup:

Appreciate the help as always!

I keep the bottom of the vents (under the collection cup) right at water level in my AIO. It still skims wet but works well after a few weeks

Got it! As far as the ramp-up period, I'm considering covering it/putting a shield on the side to prevent it from shooting all over the wall/dripping - is that ok?

Sorry I just watched the vid. Pretty dosing tubes lol!

did you add prazi or any additives to the water lately, that seems like more foam then just nutrient buildup… but either way you might try mounting it really high (to where the foam isn’t quite getting in the cup), then lower it about a cm every day until your getting some collection but not filling the cup

(If it’s the doc version w controller you could just turn down the power and slowly ramp it up to accomplish same thing)

Thanks! I’m all about that organization haha. Sadly my Hydros messed up and fed my entire plank feeder today, so that’s todays struggle. Let me try that.

I wish I had the controller right about now…

Hi. Noobie here thinking of buying a Tunze. So does the holiday cup not drain the skimmate? I was hoping I could send the drain straight out and not have to manually empty the cup.

Yes, though only once the skim is a liquid, if the foam is too light it won't.

I just finished breaking in an AC version of the 9012. Finally got rid of the gurgling sound by raising it so the water level Is a few mm above the bottom part of the intake vent and tuning the air intake. 2 weeks or so later and it’s skimming very well and quietly.

yeah I'm still battling it, I have the intake sent to a CO2 scrubber and that's causing it to be a bit more noisy
