Tunze 9410 dc loud grinding noise

I installed a brand new tunze 9410 dc yesterday and it keeps making a loud grinding noise. I have it in 6.5 inches of water, which is within range for the skimmer. The only thing that stops the grinding sound is if I squeeze the air silencer line for a couple seconds. After that it is pretty quiet for a little while then starts grinding again. It sounds like it is coming from the motor as when I hold the skimmer cup or anything on the skimmer the sound isn’t affected. I am running it at about 80 percent and have not generated any skimmate yet. However, it is generating foam. Anybody with a 9410 expeience this grinding noise? Thanks

Not familiar with the 9410 but I’m sure others will chime in.. if possible I would take it apart and check impeller and shaft for any damage or any visible foreign objects, I guess since it’s new you would always have the option to return it if it’s defective.

Thanks, I will check the impeller and shaft for damage. Yeah I can return it as I just got it this week, but I want to make sure it’s not an easy fix first.
