Tunze 9410 skimmer too small for medium load 180G?

If so, which tunze is the right size for a medium load 180G?

Otherwise, which other skimmer would you get.. I was looking at the Vertex Alpha 170 but its a lil steep in price and read its not so good anyway.

Using it on my 180gallon midium set. No problems and great skimmer. Recommended. To be honest IMO it is best skimmer on market price/footprint/perormace atm. Very setisfied with it and bearly you can hear it working.

Nice it arrived yesterday. It's very quiet. Very very quiet.

The build quality seems a little cheap coming from a Vertex Omega.. but wow this thing skims pretty well off the box with no breakin. So far, impressed. The vertex needed lots of tweaking.

Same impresion i had when i switched from RO to Tunze. Plastic seams much thiner then RO but there isnt break in and autoadjust made by Tunze is very good no more tweaking. Also skimming power vs RO is much more better even it is much cheaper skimmer and foot print is much smaller. When i saw it out of box i was thinking omg what did i buy nano skimmer but i am still even 6 months late impressed with it how much skimmate it get out of my tank in one week. Lets say amount it pull out in 5 days RO needed at least 20 days. I am not making this out and also i dont have any kind of deal with Tunze to make statement like this. This is only my personal view of this impressive "little" skimmer.

Got this one on 245g tank. Seems to be the best product on the market for it's quality-price-durability-silence properties. A bit surprised it's barely mentioned here, meaning nobody really owns it, but us three

How often do you clean it? I usually clean once a week and try to keep the substance rather dark and thick to avoid losing salinity over long term. The tactics seem to work well so far.

I’ve got the 9415 on my 180. The thing pulls so much out. My only complaint is that I have to keep the air hose disconnected from the body. It sucked water in and for the last year has been louder.

I have the DC model. What does the knob adjustment do? It says air... If I turn it down, is that how I get thicker skimmate rather than liquidity skimmate?

I not sure how it works. Do you completly remove cup and put this on ? Can find any pictures mounted.

Yes, the foam extractor assembly is a replacement for the existing collection cup on the 9410 skimmer. Keep in mind that the foam extractor is a bit taller than the existing cup, so you’d need extra clearance in your stand to remove it whenever needed. I found out this information when doing research for the skimmer over on RC.

Well the main point of the DC controller is to avoid skimmer going mad if you have a "very dirty water", so you can make it bubble less and overflow. As a result the skimming matter will be thicker, but it will obviously generate less foam as well.

Let's say you perform a cleanup of your sandbed, chances are that the next day your skimmer will be full and go bananas, but turn the knob down to 50% and it will act normally, thus giving you thicker skimmate.

Also Tunze says you need to keep the water level at exactly 14cm from the bottom of the skimmer foot, but if your RO over performs a bit and you get an inch of water more, it will also make the skimmer overflow (from the sides), then turning the knob down helps too.

At the end of the day it's just a convenient thing to have and gives you more options. If you can, would always be good to set the thing up right and keep it at full throttle, at least that's what i do.

Only complaint is the skim container is a bit small . I wish it was bigger to store more.

Same impresion i have. It beats all i saw and used rated for 200 gallon no doubts. It is small funny and to be honest ugly little thing but man it is hard worker. Using it 6 months now and i all can say very impressed.
