Hi reefers. Just wanted to share my recent experience with the tunze 5017 all lights blinking water damage indicator, and how i fixed it.
I had mine placed at the back of the tank and the air stone was in spitting at it and salt water eventually made it's way in. I dried it all out and tried it and still didn't work.
So i simply took others experiences reported on R2R and copied. A RO water dip of the circuit board and end of the DC cable connector for 1 hour. Swishes it around a bit. Let it dry out for 12 hours and pluged it in and bingo! Instantly worked. I guess salt crystals on the circuit boards tin was interupting the connect. Left in this state i can imagine it would corrode the tin and you would have to send it off to Tunze for repair. Or buy a new one if thry can't repair it due the damage being too great.
Important note to Tunze!!! For a £190 device i would absolutely expect you to have included a rubber seal in the casing. There is not! Just plastic held together by 2 screws placed always around a humid water environment. Please can you take that improvement advice on board.
